Police are investigating three cabinet ministers and presidential hopeful Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine who are said to be holding illegal rallies contrary to the COVID-19 guidelines.

The said ministers include; Health Minister Jane Ruth Aceng, Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister Ephraim Kamuntu, and State Minister for Kampala Beni Namugwanya Bugembe. Also on the spotlight is NRM Vice Chairperson for eastern region Captain Mike Mukula. Videos circulated showing Mukula ‘campaigning’ in church.

Fred Enanga, the Police spokesperson said they will soon be sending out summons to all individuals involved. He said once they find out that any of the officials flouted the presidential directives or COVID-19 guidelines, he/she will be arrested.

A week ago, Enanga said the call to arrest ministers for flouting COVID- 19 guidelines was beyond them.

“This issue is beyond us. It’s the Prime Minister’s office that has to take action if the minister flouted any guidelines to curb the spread of COVID-19,” Enanga said.
