From a volunteer to a Director; Francis Odokorach named Oxfam Uganda Director

From a volunteer to a director, the newly appointed Oxfam Uganda Director Francis Odokorach started out his career in the realms of NGOs as a volunteer.

Odokorach says he was progressively promoted to higher roles of responsibility after having commenced as a volunteer.

“I began as a Volunteer Social Worker in 2003 then progressed to Advocacy Communications and Research Officer in the same year and was in 2007 made the Programme’s manager,” stated Odokorach

In 2008 he joined Oxfam as the Programme Advocacy and Campaigns Lead and served on the Eastern African Pastoralism technical advisory team. Due to his successful advocacy design and stewardship during his tenure he was the key influencer to the passing of the East African Livestock Policy.

In 2013- 2015, Odokorach served as the associate Country Director of Oxfam Ireland in the Oxfam confederation and was party of the country’s leadership team.

Odokorach was in 2015  appointed the Promoting Equality in African Schools (PEAS) Country director, a position he held til 2017 when he was appointed the Country Director Oxfam Tanzania.

He was early this month appointed the Oxfam Director Uganda. And the Oxfam team took it to their social media platforms to introduce Odokrach.

“We are pleased to introduce our new country Director, Francis Odokorach who joined us this September,” stated the message.

According to the Oxfam post Odokorach is a seasoned leader who brings on board more than 16 years of work experience in the not profit industry of which 10 years have been with Oxfam in Tanzania.

They also added that Odokorach  has a deep sense of pan Africanism and is passionate about fighting inequality. He dreams of greening Africa.
