Bus carrying COVID-19 patients from Gulu Hospital catches fire

Parliament bus that has been transporting 25 COVID-19 patients from Gulu Hospital to Kampala has caught fire. The incident happened about 25km from Gulu according to the ministry of health spokesperson Emmanuel Ainebyoona.

“We have taken note of an unfortunate incident where a Parliament Bus transporting COVID-19 patients from Gulu was gutted by fire. All the passengers onboard have been rescued,” says Ainebyoona.

Ainebyoona reveals that no injuries have been sustained though the entire bus has been razed down by fire. He says the ministry working with police to devise means of transporting passengers to final destination.

The patients were being transported after the Gulu Hospital ran out of space for COVID-19 patients. The health ministry today confirmed 14 new COVID-19 cases taking the cumulative confirmed cases of Ugandans to 5,380. No COVID-19 death was reported as it now remains at 60. The recoveries now stand at 2,489.
