Police apologise to elderly woman captured in video being clobbered by their officer

In a gesture to put to bed the social media uproar following a viral video where a police officer was captured clobbering an elderly woman in Mbale, Mbale Police Divisional Police Commander, Fred Mchanga has led a delegation of senior officers and visited the old woman.

Mchanga apologized to the old woman and warned men in uniform to stop the acts of violence against the public.

In the video that made rounds, the late Assistant Inspector of Police (AIP), Sam Okiror is seen whipping the old woman who appeared to be walking to her home without provoking the police.

Okiror was was attached to Mbale Central Police Station as the Field Force Commander and by the time the video sparked outrage on social media, Afande Asan Kasingye disclosed that Okiror had passed on three weeks ago.
