Just two weeks after he was sacked as the Internal Security Organisation Director General, Col. Frank Kaka Bagyenda has been appointed Uganda’s Ambassador to Angola.

Though the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is yet to officially confirm the appointment, sources inside the ministry reveal that Col. Bagyenda was appointed as the pioneer diplomat after Kampala decided to open an embassy in the central Africa country previously occupied by Portugal.

Last week, Col. Bagyenda’s successor Lt.Col. Charles Oluka the former head of Technical at the spy agency officially took over office. Security minister Gen Elly Tumwine presided over the handover ceremony.

Tumwine applauded Kaka for his three-year service as the head of ISO.

“He has done a wonderful job. He has encountered a lot of challenges but has overcome them. He has left at a time when the situation is much better than in 2017 when he came. There were a lot of security concerns (in 2017) including murders but for the last two and a half years, we have had almost total peace in the whole country,” Tumwine said.
