According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, the suspect was shot dead as he attempted to disarm officers who were conducting his arrest. Onyango said a woman reached out to Police on Wednesday and reported a rape case. She identified Ambayo as the person who raped her.

“The rape victim, whose name we will not disclose for privacy narrated to police the ordeal and she identified the suspect,” Onyango said.

He added, “On effecting the arrest, Ambayo resisted and attempted to grab a gun from one of the officers, therefore, firing bullets that killed him instantly.” Ambayo was a resident of Lugala, Lubaga division in Kampala district.
