MP Ssemujju Nganda says money allocated to State House for classified expenditures is helping Museveni to rent popularity

Kira Municipality Member of Parliament, Hon Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda has questioned why State House keeps on requesting for additional classified money.

Last week Parliament approved a supplementary budget worth Shs3.729 trillion for the 2020/2021 financial year. On it, State House was allocated Shs450 billion for classified expenditure.

Ssemujju claims that Museveni is using the money to promote his personal political agendas other than using it to positively impact the lives of Ugandans.

“As far as I know, the children at State House have grown and left. There are only two adults at State House and a few workers,” says Ssemujju.

He asserts that Museveni uses the money to get political favours from constituents as his ‘lies’ can no longer attract masses.

“Distribution of money has become a major activity at State House because he (Museveni) has to rent popularity,” he says.

However, the ruling NRM’s Director of Communication Emmanuel Dombo insists that President Museveni’s expenditures are not sucking the treasury dry.

Dombo says Museveni is rightfully spending the money on the people of Uganda.

“Would you be happy to have a president who doesn’t give people food when they visit him?” Dombo says in defence.
