The Secretary for Mobilisation of Forum for Democratic Change Ingrid Turinawe has vowed not to leave the party until a delegates conference is convened to decide her fate.

Turinawe and two others were expelled through a letter from the party secretary Nandala Mafabi for standing as independents in the national elections after suffering defeats in the party primaries.

Turinawe lost to youthful Dr. Warren Nuwagaba in the party primaries for Rukungiri Municipality MP seat. She protested the results citing irregularities that included voter bribery and declared to stand as independent.

“I am the commander of defiance,” Turinawe said as she insisted that she’s still a member of FDC.

“They should go slow on me because I am FDC in the morning, afternoon, evening and at night. And I am the strongest candidate on ground that is going to win the Rukungiri MP seat. They still need me,” she said.

She said she’s not the first to contest as an independent against a FDC candidate.

“How come some members are still in FDC even after contesting against party flag bearers?” she asked.

However, Nandala Mafabi says his decision is final and the expelled colleagues have already been deleted from the party members’ register.
