749,811 candidates expected to start their PLE exams tomorrow

Writing of the Primary Leaving Examinations will start tomorrow Tuesday, March 30 after the pupils were briefed on Friday last week.

A total of 749,811 candidates are expected to sit for this year’s PLE from 14,300 examination Centres. 58 of these candidates are inmates from Upper Prison School Luzira. And according to the Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB), this is an increase of 54,007 (7.8 %) from 2019.

53% (395,855) of the total candidature are females while 47% (353,957) are males. 68.4% (513,091) are funded under the Universal Primary Education (UPE) Program, while 31.6 % (236,720) are non-UPE candidates.

Tomorrow candidates will start with writing Mathematics in the morning and then Social Studies in the Afternoon. On Wednesday, March 31, candidates will write Integrated Science in the morning and English in the afternoon.

The Board has commissioned a total of 50,800 field personnel who will be involved in the field conduct of the PLE Examination throughout the country. These include District monitors, scouts, supervisors and invigilators.
