FDC endorses Ssemujju for Speaker

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has officially endorsed Kira Municipality legislator Ibrahim Semujju Nganda as their flag bearer for the position of speaker in the 11th parliament.

While making the announcement at their party offices in Najjanankumbi in Kampala, the FDC chairman Wasswa Birigwa said that the party National Executive Committee (NEC) unanimously agreed to have Semujju stand for the position.

Birigwa described Ssemujju as a dynamic and visionary leader who can steer parliament to make better laws that will benefit the people of Uganda.

He added that with the experience Ssemujju has gained over the years in parliament as an active legislator and the opposition chief whip, he proved that he can serve in the position of the speaker of parliament.

FDC also announced that Counsel Yusuf Nsibambi, the MP-elect for Mawokota South will contest in the Deputy Speaker race.

So far, current speaker Rebecca Kadaga and her deputy Jacob Oulanyah (NRM), Ssemujju (FDC) and Rakai district Woman MP Juliet Kinyamatama (NRM) have expressed interest in contesting for the speaker’s race.
