2124 suspects arrested, 445 vehicles impounded for violating curfew over the weekend

Due to an increase in Covid-19 cases and deaths, Police intensified its curfew operations over the weekend to enforce the Ministry of Health Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs).

In the operations, a number of motorcycles and Vehicles were impounded and suspects arrested in the Kampala Metropolitan area and other areas country wide.

While addressing journalists this morning, Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga said that a total of 445 cars were impounded and 2124 suspects arrested over the weekend for violating curfew. He said that they are all to be arraigned in court today.

On Saturday evening, President Yoweri Museveni issued a warning to the public who are complacent about adhering to the set guidelines intended to stop the spread of COVID-19. He is set to make another address this week to issue refresh recommendations on fight the deadly virus.

Meanwhile, Enanga has disclosed that 3rd June Martyrs day celebrations will be held scientifically as no trekking by pilgrims will be allowed.
