As one of the measures to curb the second wave of the deadly Covid 19 pandemic, President Museveni ordered all schools to close for 42 days starting on Monday June 7. With inter district transportation banned, the students were given up to Wednesday June 9 to travel back home.

Due to the overwhelming number of people travelling to different districts, many students are stranded as the transport operators have taken advantage of the situation and tripled the fares forcing the government to intervene.

While addressing the media today the Commissioner of Transport at Ministry of Works, Wilson Katushabe has asked all those with government bus and vans to surrender them so that there are used to transport all the stranded students to their respective villages.
