The Parliamentary Appointments Committee chaired by the Deputy Speaker Anita Among yesterday approved presidential nominee, Joyce Ssebugwawo as State Minister for Information Communication Technology (ICT) and National Guidance in charge of Communication.

Speaking to journalists at Parliament, shortly after her approval, Ssebugwawo said she is committed to serving Uganda at a national level without any discrimination.

“It’s time to serve my country, I’m ready to take up the job,” said Ssebugwagwo.

The former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Deputy President revealed that the party has not officially informed her about her dismissal though she would not mind being shown the exit door as she was already planning on retiring.

“I have no problem with FDC expelling me; I am here to serve more people than the ones I was serving before. I have no future in politics and this is my last chance to serve all Ugandans,” she said.

FDC’s party President Patrick Amuriat expelled Ssebugwawo for accepting Museveni’s ministerial job.

“I can confirm that she has accepted the appointment and as a result has offended Article 12 of the FDC Constitution. She therefore ceases to be a member of FDC and has accordingly voluntarily relinquished her position as Deputy President,” said Amuriat in a statement.
