Pastor Joseph Serwadda, one of the prominent Pentecostal leaders in Uganda and senior Pastor at Victory Church in Ndeeba has asked President Yoweri Museveni to appoint a Minister in charge of Religious Affairs.

Speaking during the 4th National Prayers session for the COVID-19 situation, Pastor Sserwadda said that just like Uganda’s motto For God and My Country, religion must be prioritised as it’s the basis of nurturing a decent generation.

The pastor said that the high rate of indiscipline is because society does not treat religion as a serious issue.

On the issue of COVID-19,  Sserwadda urged Ugandans to avail the free space they have for COVID-19 vaccinations, treatment, and counseling to ease the pressure on the hospitals.

Mufti Shaban Mubajje decried the exploitation in hospitals before urging government to regulate private hospitals and also assist them with different medical supplies.

“There are people who see business in COVID-19.  We should applaud Lacor Hospital. It is a challenge to other health facilities. These hospitals that are charging Ugandans highly don’t go back there when you heal.

Taking a sample from Mbale Hospital where I was with my mother who is sick of COVID-19 and improving, the medical workers want to work but they are disgruntled. They need to be paid and encouraged,” said Mufti Mubajje.
