Last week photos surfaced on social media showing individuals swapping the registration number plate of a Toyota Prado from a private number plate to a government plate of the ministry of defense.

Many decried that the act is giving more confidence to the criminal gangs to continue doing the same and maybe later the public will also try it out hence causing a disaster.

While addressing journalists today, the UPDF spokesperson Brig Flavia Byekwaso disclosed that the vehicle that was seen swapping number plates on social media belongs to the UPDF. She further explained that the driver is also their staff but swapped number plates under his wisdom.

“The driver under his wisdom thought of swapping the number plates to avoid being stopped on the road because he was rushing to Arua,” said Byekwaso.

Byekwaso said that he has been suspended and the vehicle removed from him.
