Following the reshuffle of Permanent secretaries that has seen many new faces recruited, celebrated economist Ramathan Ggoobi’s appointment as the incoming Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Finance was welcomed by many.

While thanking the President for the noble appointment, the Makerere Busines School lecturer said that he believes in economics that works.
“To H.E the President, thank you for the trust in appointing me to serve in this noble office. To the people of Uganda, thank you for the support and love. To the world, this simple boy from Butambala believes in economics that works and hates accountability without results,” Ggoobi posted.

Despite “working” for government as the Operation Wealth Creation’s chief economist, Ggoobi has not shyed away from criticizing government’s awful decisions on the economy.
Many believe he has been recruited to help rectify the problems.
