National Unity Platform (NUP) Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya has ruled out any possibility of him going back to serving the regime. His response comes after Daily Pepper run a story tipping him to be on the leaked list of new envoys that President Yoweri Museveni is about to appoint.

“The biggest joke of all time!” said Rubongoya in a tweet thread on his official Twitter account.

“The NRM system has survived all these years by sponsoring propaganda meant to discredit, derail, divide and eventually destroy those who oppose it. When they try to compromise you and you refuse, they resort to lies and blackmail,” he said.

Rubongoya was formerly a great supporter and the National Resistance Movement campaigner before joining NUP Party. He resigned from his well-paying jobs to be able to openly associate with People Power, that later turned to NUP. He has been on its leadership right from the start.

The lawyer said the reports of him being appointed ambassador are false and they should be treated with the contempt they deserve.

“If our mission was to get jobs, we would never have abandoned our good jobs in the first place to focus on the struggle for freedom and democracy.

Some of us would never have opted out of the system and decided to fight it! Our mission is to remove a military dictatorship that has ruined our country. We shall stop at nothing until we achieve that mission. Everything else is a diversion,” he said.

Rubongoya served the NRM for a very long time and many believed he still belonged to the NRM even after he crossed over to the People Power Movement now NUP and branded him a spy. He has continuously come out and denied.
