US President Joe Biden has allocated up to $500 million (about Shs1.7 trillion) in aid for refugees and migrants who have had to flee Afghanistan after the Taliban seized power.

The White House said US President Joe Biden had taken the sum from emergency funds and allocated it to meet Afghans’ “unexpected” and “urgent” needs.

So far, US, United Kingdom and Uganda are some of the countries that have accepted to host Afghan refugees.
