The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has released results from the 2020 Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) examinations.

The ceremony held at State House Nakasero was presided over by the Minister for Education and Sports, Hon. Janet Kataha Museveni.

According to UNEB statistics, a total of 98,392 candidates sat for UACE examinations from 1,952 centres across the country. Of these 41,190 were female while the rest were males.

Despite the fact that fewer female candidates sat the exams, the females outshined their male counterparts in terms of the principal pass level.

“The percentage passes at the upper levels of 3 principle passes and 2 principle passes is higher for females while their percentage at lower levels and failure rate is lower than that of the males,” said the UNEB Executive Secretary, Dan Odongo.

Odongo further revealed that the girls outperformed the boys by grading from A to E in the Arts subjects. The females were also better in Maths and Physics while the males only performed better in Agriculture, Chemistry, Art and General Paper.
