Opposition Members of Parliament (MPs) have resolved not to attend Plenary sittings until MPs, Allan Ssewanyana and Ssegirinya Muhammed are produced in courts of law.

Yesterday, the same MPs led by Leader of the Opposition Mathias Mpuuga stormed out of the Chamber after raising concerns about the re-arrest of the two MPs and no convincing answer was given by the government representatives.

The MPs say it’s unfair for Parliament to conduct business normally, yet some of its members are under unclear arrest.

They also demand the government explain the whereabouts of other opposition supporters who have been in detention for a while.

Ssegirinya and Ssewanyana are set to be arraigned before the Masaka Magistrates’ Court today on Wednesday to face fresh charges. A week ago, the duo was charged with murder, attempted murder, and terrorism. They were given bail and immediately rearrested at the gates of Kigo Prison by security operatives donning black police uniforms.
