Executive Director of UNAIDS and Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations Winnie Byanyima is known for being very spirited in her effort to emancipate the girl child.

Some of her efforts have landed her in trouble with the public especially when her efforts to emancipate the girl child contract with culture, traditions, or norms.

In her latest shot at the patriarchy, Winnie Byanyima has not spared Naguru based Television, NBS.

The wife to opposition titan Kizza Besigye was not in any slight sense impressed by the fact that NBS’ popular political show, The Front Line, hosted a panel yesterday night that was comprised of only male panelists.

She immediately took a picture of the ongoing show and took it to Twitter to address the issue. Her opinions were very strong as she referred to the act as a thing of the past that denied viewers of the television diverse perspectives.

She went forth to create a hashtag, #NoMoreManels, that demonized the idea of having only male panelists on such shows through a creative merging of the words, male and panels.
She tweeted; “Listen @nbstv, such all-male panels should be a thing of the past. You are excluding Ugandan women from political debates, perpetuating a stereotype that men are ‘superior’ politicians to women, & denying your viewers diverse perspectives. Commit to #NoMoreManels please.”

This is not her first shot at dismantling the patriarchy as in 2018, she came under a lot of heat for discouraging women from kneeling down, a tradition and culture that has been cherished among Ugandan cultural norms.
