The Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) have gone forth to strike three more Allied for Democratic Forces (ADF) rebel bases.

According to a tweet by UPDF spokesperson Brig Gen Flavia Byekwaso, the UPDF forces advanced yesterday at objective Kambiyayu with additional enemy points being targeted by air and artillery strikes.

“Today the Joint forces advanced to “contact” at objective KAMBIYAYU. 3 additional enemy positions were targeted by air & artillery strikes. The ground forces are also engaging the enemy in the same area,” she tweeted.

This strike follows an earlier attack by the UPDF and the Congolese Forces on ADF rebels in joint efforts against the IS-linked terrorist movement in DRC.

Brig Byekwaso noted then that the UPDF had been at Mukakati Forward Operating Base for a week, carrying out other military activities that enhance combat readiness against ADF terrorists.

In the UPDF’s airstrike and artillery of November 30, 31 Congolese hostages were released and four enemy camps were destroyed.

Also, the UPDF Engineering Brigade working with FARDC has embarked on opening up the impassable stretch of the main supply route from Mukakati UPDF Forward Operating Base (FOB) up to ease passage through R. Semuliki Bridge.

According to UPDF, the dilapidated and narrow stretch of 14kms had slowed down the advance of the UPDF ground offensive against ADF terrorists.
