Kyambogo University lecturer James Kazungu Aluko has been sentenced to 8 years in prison after he was found guilty of attempting to murder his wife by pouring acid on her.

Three Court of Appeal justices have upheld an 8-year jail term handed to Kazungu who was indicted with attempted murder, doing grievous harm, and sentenced to serve 8 years imprisonment by the Nakawa magistrate’s court.

Kazungu was unhappy and appealed to the High Court but the conviction was upheld and the sentence of 8 years was not interfered with.

Still, Kazungu was discontented with the decision of the High court and filed a second appeal against only the sentence, which also the court of Appeal upheld saying the appellant is a lecturer at Kyambogo University who is well educated and knew what he was doing.

It is alleged that on October 28th, 2017 at Namataba village, Kira Municipality in Wakiso District, Kazungu attempted to cause the death of his wife by pouring acid on her.

This is after his wife asked him to leave her house after a serious quarrel between the couple.
