The Minister for ICT and National Guidance, Chris Baryomunsi, seems to have received police summons for ongoing investigations surrounding allegations that the late speaker, Jacob Oulanyah, was poisoned with a pinch of salt.

While addressing journalists at the Uganda Media Center in Kampala, Baryomunsi cautioned police for being part of the groups that are unnecessarily pushing the poison talk.

Baryomunsi said that though he supports the idea of an investigation into the matter, he urged police to be professional.

“Police should be professional in the way they do their work. Jacob Oulanyah’s father needs counseling, not a police summons. Also, they should stop dragging our names into such talks, “said Baryomunsi.

The minister took a dig at police spokesperson Fred Enanga, saying,

“At this rate, Fred Enanga may end up summoning Jacob Oulanyah for telling his father that he was poisoned. In our language, “enanga” (piano) means a musical instrument, but in this case, I don’t like the music coming out of it.”

Yesterday, Enanga announced summons against the father of the fallen speaker, National Unity Platform (NUP) President Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine), Vice-chairman NRM Buganda, Godfrey Kiwanda, MP Gilbert Oulanya, and Minister Baryomunsi to assist with ongoing investigations surrounding allegations that the late speaker was poisoned.

This comes in the wake of the country’s president, Yoweri Museveni, warning the citizenry against engaging in unfounded allegations surrounding the fallen speaker’s death, lest they be summoned to assist the police with investigations pertaining to the matter.
