Former Soroti City Mayoral Candidate Elias Ejoku is dead. Ejoku contested on the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket during the 2021 elections.

According to reports, Ejoku was found dead at the Mulago Hospital mortuary today after he went missing on Sunday.

David Lewis Rubongoya, the NUP party Secretary-General, says they are trying to establish the circumstances under which Ejoku met a very violent death.

“What we know for now is that he was dropped at Mulago hospital and by the time his family got wind of it, his body was already in the mortuary, with visible wounds on his hands and his head. We are still waiting for the post-mortem report, which we have been pursuing since yesterday,” says Rubongoya.

He adds, “Before his death, Comrade Ejoku was one of the most reliable NUP mobilizers in the Teso Sub-region.”

He has been hosting most of the mobilization meetings in Soroti City.”

About the cause of his death, Rubongoya claims,

“What makes his murder in cold blood more suspect is that his murderers only took his laptop and phone and left the money he was found within his pockets.”
