EC holds meeting ahead of Omoro by-election tomorrow

The Electoral Commission has today held a pre-polling stakeholder meeting for Omoro County Member of Parliament by-election, and the Woman Councillor for Lalogi/Lakwaya scheduled for tomorrow May 26, 2022.

The meeting happened at Lalogi Sub County Headquarters in Omoro District. Representatives of the racing candidates attended the meeting.

The EC Chairperson, Justice Simon Byabakama commended the candidates and their supporters for conducting a peaceful campaign period. He also commended the police for ensuring compliance with the campaign guidelines.

Ahead of voting tomorrow, Byabakama stated that voting at all the 84 polling stations in the Omoro County constituency will start at 7 am and end at 4 pm.

“The Electoral Commission has completed preparing the National Voters’ Register for Omoro County Constituency, which bears the names of all the thirty-eight thousand six hundred and thirty-eight (38,638) registered voters,” said Byabakama.

He added, “The Commission has issued a copy of the Voters’ Register to candidates to enable them through their official agents, ensure that only eligible persons are allowed to vote during the by-election & only at the polling station where they are registered as voters.”

Byabakama further stated that designated candidates’ agents are advised to report to the Sub County offices before 6:00 am tomorrow to observe the dispatch of the polling kits to their respective polling stations.
