FDC leaders, supporters protest detention of Besigye, arrested

Forum for Democratic Change members and supporters have this morning protested the detention of their former party president Dr. Kizza Besigye.

The group was led by included; FDC Deputy President in charge of the Eastern region and Soroti District Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Anna Adeke Ebaju and Kampala Deputy Lord mayor Nyanjura Doreen.

The two leaders together with other FDC women activists were at Mulago Roundabout while protesting against Besigye’s detention and the skyrocketing prices of basic commodities in the country.

They were holding placards and chanting, “Free Kizza Besigye.”

Police rounded them up and made arrests. They are currently being detained at Wandegeya Police Station.

Last week, Besigye was charged with inciting violence and remanded to prison until June 16.
