Police in Sheema have arrested Emmanuel Sabiiti, a former language lecturer at Makerere University and resident of Kabutsye in Kigarama, Sheema district.

Sabiiti is the prime suspect in the double murder of his 8-year-old daughter, Kendo Kukunda, and a maid, Lilan Ainembabazi, 16.

Over the weekend, Sabiiti went on the run after he allegedly hacked his daughter to death.

According to reports, Sabiiti and his wife were involved in an argument. The woman reportedly told him that, after all, none of the children belonged to him. Out of anger, he killed the son and maid.

The suspect also gravely injured his daughter, who was rushed to Mbarara Regional Hospital for treatment.

Following the two-day manhunt, Sabiiti was arrested in Buhweju district.
