SOROTI CITY BY-ELECTION: Police confirm arrest of 43 FDC members; claim they were bribing voters

Police has confirmed the arrest of 43 people subscribing to the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party.

According to East Kyoga Police Spokesperson, ASP Ageca Oscar, those arrested include FDC Party President Patrick Oboi Amuriat and others who were allegedly bribing people and campaigning yet the campaigning period was over.

They are currently detained at Soroti Central Police Station.

Last evening, FDC reported that security operatives invaded hotels and arrested their party president, Hon. Patrick Amuriat, several MPs, and their polling agents.

Voting is underway in Soroti City East. The biggest contestants are FDC’s Attan Moses and the ruling NRM’s Herbert Ariko.
