Newlywed UK-based Ugandan businessman died on honeymoon while trying to save his son from drowning in River Nile

UK-based Ugandan businessman, Lawrence Kakooza, died on his honeymoon in Uganda.

According to Kevin Ssewakiryanga, a friend and one of the tycoons in Ggoolo county, Mpigi district, where the deceased’s wedding was held, he said that Kakooza came back to Uganda in July this year.

Ssewakiryanga revealed that Kakooza returned to Uganda from the UK, where he had lived for over 20 years, to introduce and wed her longtime lover, Justine Nabwami.

The couple had their Kwanjula in Magere, Gayaza on July 30, 2022. On August 6, they had their wedding estimated to cost about Shs1 billion.

The wedding saw nearly all of the biggest musicians in the country, including Eddie Yawe, B2C, Maddox Ssematimba, Irene Namubiru, Chosen Becky, King Saha, Mariam Ndagire, Eddie Kenzo, Rema, Spice Diana, and others entertain the guests.

Unfortunately, the 45-year-old drowned in the River Nile at Murchison Falls on Wednesday. Reports indicate that he drowned while trying to save his son.

Despite managing to save his son, he failed to make it out of the water. His body is yet to be found.
