Bobi Wine donates Shs10 million to aid Ugandans stranded in Arab nations

National Unity Platform (NUP) party president Bobi Wine real name Robert Kyagulanyi has donated Shs10 million to aid Ugandans stranded in Arab nations.

The NUP party is running a campaign to return Ugandans who are under detention in Arab countries.

“We are undertaking a one-week campaign as the National Unity Platform in order to raise money for the cause,” reads the party statement in part.

Bobi Wine, together with Nubian Li, were set to hold two concerts in Dubai and Abu Dhabi to raise money for Ugandans stuck in Arab countries. However, authorities in Dubai canceled the charity concerts.

About 3,000 Ugandans are said to be detained in Al Awir Prison in the United Arab Emirates, with the majority of the detainees being girls and facing charges of illegal stay.
