Duncan Byambala, a senior four student at Luzira Secondary School who is accused of fatally punching a security guard at the school, will be absent from the remainder of his exams period after being detained by police.

Byambala was apprehended when he showed up to take his final UCE exams, according to Luke Owoyesigyire, the spokesperson for the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police. He is currently being held at the Jinja Road police station.

Byambala allegedly punched Geoffrey Mugerwa, 22.

“It is alleged that at about 11am on October 25, students were exiting the school through the main gate when a scuffle ensued. The security guard is alleged to have taken a punch from a senior four candidate before he fell on the ground and became unconscious,” said Owoyesigyire.

Mugerwa was rushed to ST Steven Dispensary where he was pronounced dead.
