Police officer knocked dead in Bwaise, driver arrested

The driver of a Fuso truck that struck two police officers, killing one instantly and seriously injuring the other, has been taken into custody by Natete police.

The incident took place this morning in Bwaise at around 4 a.m.

The deceased officer has been identified as Police Constable Bazibu Sam, a police officer attached to Kawempe Police Station.

It is claimed that while Police Constable Bazibu and his colleague, Police Constable Nabifo Brenda, were conducting a patrol in Bwaise while riding a motorcycle with the license plate UP 7866, UAM 809L Fuso, struck them and continued driving.

The deceased’s body has been transported to Mulago’s city mortuary for a post-mortem, while his colleague, Police Constable Brenda, is being treated at Mulago Hospital.

The motor vehicle UAM 809L was intercepted in Natete and the driver was arrested.
