Police arrest ‘armed gang’, recover knife, toy gun

Police at Old Kampala have carried out an intelligence-led operation in Namungoona and arrested eleven suspects and recovered a toy pistol.

According to the police, the operation was conducted at Namungona II after they received information from a reliable source that someone had been seen with a gun in a bar.

“A team of police officers were tasked to follow up the information and went up to the bar where one black plastic toy gun, mairungi and a bag of fresh opium were recovered at a bar called EWA NICO NOTE BAR MAGOMBE,” said the police.

The 11 suspects are; Kalule Jordan, Ntwatwa Muzafaru, Namiraku Patrick, Kalemera John, Kibaatu Constant, Nicolas Kavuma, Sentongo Fredrick, Mukasa Paul, Mugume Emmanuel, Sengonzi Isaac, and Namagga Azida.

The group has been charged with unlawful possession of a toy gun, a knife, and opium and are detained at the Old Kampala Police Division.
