Majambere Kamuntu Ivan, a supporter of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), has asked the Uganda Human Rights Commission to help him obtain asylum in the USA.

Majambere claims in a letter dated November 17 that he is receiving death threats from NUP supporters both inside and outside of Uganda.

He adds that he tried to contact security but received no assistance.

“Instead, I’ve been getting calls that are threatening my life and the lives of my family members. I’ve called the government and security to be protected from these threats and to secure my life, but it has been in vain,” he said.

Last month during the burial of Jakana Nadduli, a son of NRA war veteran Abdul NadduliDuring, a scuffle ensued where the outspoken NRM activist Majambere was beaten by a mob that accused him of attempting to block NUP officials from addressing mourners during the burial.

Majambere threatened to exact revenge in several videos that were captured and distributed after the attack.

“I will kill more than four. That’s me. You wait. I will show you that I’m the one who has been working at Nalufenya,” he said.

Days later, the police began detaining those who were involved in the altercation.
