The commander in chief of the armed forces, Gen. Yoweri Museveni has appointed Major General Francis Takirwa as the Acting Deputy Commander of Land Forces.

Prior to his new position, Takirwa was the 2nd Division Commander in the Uganda People’s Défense Force. He has also served in other different leadership roles in the military, including a tour in Somalia, as part of the UPDF contingent to AMISOM, from 2011 until 2012. Takirwa was the chief of education, sports, and culture in the UPDF.
