Fans and celebrities mourn Tik Tok “star” Asia

Tributes continue to pour in following the death of Tik Tok celebrity Asia this morning.

Asia real name Aisha Rose Namirembe, who is known for her comic appearances on the SB4 Media YouTube channel and on Tik Tok as Asia wa Charles, died at Mulago Hospital after undergoing an operation.

According to SB4, Asia was admitted to the hospital with a chronic stomach illness, and an operation was reportedly advised on Thursday but she did not make it through the surgery.

The news of her sudden demise has left social media in a sombre mood.

Condolences and tributes are pouring in from many Ugandans on social media.

National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu better known as Bobi Wine, wrote;

“My friend Aisha, You have done us bad, my O.G., and we are going to miss your good heart and interesting stories. May your gentle soul rest in perfect peace. You will be dearly missed.”

“It is so sad, Asia a friend to many R.I.P,” wrote Eddy Kenzo

“Tik Tok won’t be the same without Asia! Rest in Peace,” Sheilah Gashumba said in a post.

Musician Ykee Benda tweeted: “Oh RIP dear. “

“How sad! Death has robbed us of your comedy. Rest in Peace sweet girl,” posted radio host Martha Kay.

“Rest in Peace Asia,” wrote Spice Diana on her social media pages.

“Rest in peace Asia Wa Charles. She was full of joy, wrote Comedian Kalela.

“This life no balance rest in peace Asia may Angels welcomes well,” singer Maureen Nantume.

“Bambi Asia, one very happy soul. R.I.P,” Deejay Nimrod.

Asia has been a TikTok sensation for her unscripted skits with Charles.

Equity Group Holdings Plc posted a 55% growth in Profit After Tax to Kshs. 75.5 billion, up from Kshs. 48.8 billion in the same reporting period in 2024, marking a record performance driven by its successful strategic transformation. The Board proposed a dividend payout of Kshs. 21.7 billion, translating to Kshs. 5.75 per share, a 35.3% increase from Kshs. 16 billion (Kshs. 4.25 per share) in 2024. Regional banking subsidiaries registered a 53% growth in profit after tax to Kshs. 36.3 billion, driven by strong performance across key markets including DRC, Uganda, and Tanzania, alongside robust loan expansion of 17% in DRC, 22% in Rwanda, and 61% in Tanzania. Diversification efforts were reinforced by strong momentum in insurance, with gross written premiums rising 75% and profit before tax increasing 36%. The Group also delivered significant social impact, investing approximately Kshs. 99.5 billion in sustainability initiatives, underscoring its continued evolution into a diversified, technology-driven pan-African financial services group.
