Poor roads are one of Uganda’s biggest issues, and they are even getting worse in Kampala, the nation’s capital.

Several members of the public have recently expressed concerns about the condition of the roads in Uganda’s capital.

The majority of Kampala’s roads are littered with potholes, which are dangerous because they can clog up traffic and damage vehicles.

Last December, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) spokesperson, Simon Kasyate revealed that they received $288 million (Shs1 trillion) from the African Development Bank (ADB)and the African Development Fund to implement the road rehabilitation activities in the City under the Kampala City Roads Rehabilitation Project (KCRRP).

He stated that 31 roads were on the list to be rebuilt beginning in February of this year. However, there hasn’t been much progress.

A well-known cartoonist and columnist, Jim Spire Ssentongo has launched a Twitter campaign asking people to post pictures of Kampala’s potholes. The campaign is dubbed “Kampala Pothole Exhibition.”

Many Twitter users have responded to Ssentongo’s plea and are disseminating the images.
