Kira Municipality MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda and Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago have expressed skepticism regarding President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s reported illness, raising doubts about his true condition.

Following President Museveni’s announcement of testing positive for COVID-19 and subsequent isolation, Lukwago was the first to cast doubt on the president’s sickness. He suggested that the president’s declaration was influenced by pressure from foreign countries, particularly the United States.

Lukwago emphasized that President Museveni’s signing of the Homosexuality Bill 2023 into law had caused international complications, leading to a strategic plan for a comeback.

Ssemujju, sharing his perspective on radio Simba’s Olutindo talk show, voiced his belief that President Museveni may have undisclosed motives behind his reported sickness.

Drawing from his past experience as a journalist, Ssemujju recalled an instance when the president secretly travelled to Germany for medical treatment without public disclosure.

Ssemujju also raised doubts about the authenticity of a video circulating on social media showing a supposedly sick Museveni reading and signing documents.

On Monday, a group of individuals delivered flowers to Nakasero State House, expressing well wishes and hoping for the president’s swift recovery.

Dr. Kenneth Omona, the presidential Private Secretary, reassured the public that the President is in good spirits and steadily recovering.
