Phaneroo Ministries International, a born-again church based in Kampala, is embarking on an ambitious endeavour to secure a Guinness World Record for Uganda.

This Sunday, they will host a three-hour non-stop hand-clapping session, named “Clap for Jesus,” in an effort to break the current record for the longest applause.

The existing record stands at 2 hours and 5 minutes, achieved by Clark Stevens during “The Festival of Awesomeness” in the United Kingdom in July 2019. The event was organized to raise awareness of mental health and celebrate achievements.

Pastor Rohi Bright, speaking to journalists at the church’s head office in Kampala, revealed that the “Clap for Jesus” session is also a celebration of their ministry’s 9-year milestone and an opportunity to thank God for their journey.

The church is leaving no room for doubt about the legitimacy of their record-breaking attempt. The event will be closely monitored by professional observers from the Guinness World Record Organization, along with expert timekeepers and cameras, ensuring an uninterrupted three-hour session.

If successful, this achievement will mark Uganda’s second entry into the Guinness World Records, following the first record for creating the largest-ever chapati rolex, weighing 205 kilograms.
