Magezi managed to escape while being transported for a medical examination at Katwe CPS. The gang, known for using pangas and iron bars, was involved in a home-invasion attack and robbery of Muzito Julius in the Ziranumbu cell of Busabala parish, Makindye. They also targeted the home of the Commissioner of Police (CP)

Genevas Tumuhimbise in Kyengera Town Council.

The police have confirmed that the gang admitted to participating in eight aggravated robberies in the Kampala area. Their criminal activities also encompassed various home invasion attacks, including an attempted robbery at the home of retired police officer Murungi Perezi in Bwebajja cell, Kajjansi. During this incident, the gang fled promptly, leaving behind a SAR gun and other tools.

The gang’s activities extended to an attack on Qui Feng, a 34-year-old Director of China State Construction Company, in Nyanama Rubaga Division on May 26, 2023. In this case, they made off with three mobile phones and $300. Additionally, they confessed to robbing Shs500,000 and six mobile phones from the home of John Garanga, a South Sudanese National.

Another attack targeted Kobusinge Diana and Nalukwago Yudaya in Lufuka zone, resulting in the theft of Shs7.8 million, $500, and seven mobile phones.

Subsequently, the gang leader shifted operations to Nyendo-Mukungwe division in Masaka City, where he participated in five further cases of Aggravated Robbery in Masaka and Kyazanga.

The police emphasized their commitment to community safety, stating, “We continue to assure the communities that we are doing everything within our means to disrupt and dismantle such kinds of violent and deadly criminal gangs.”
