A private security guard attached to Centurion Security Ltd has reportedly gone on the run after allegedly stealing Shs12.57 million from his duty station. The suspect has been identified as Joshua Akankwasa.
The incident occurred at Protos Distributors Limited, located in Kabale town, western Uganda.
Christopher Mukama, the manager of Protos, said that when he arrived at work on Wednesday around 7:45 am, he found the back door of the depot open and Akankwasa absent.
Upon entering the premises, Mukama found an abandoned gun on a table and also discovered that money was missing from the safe.
Elly Maate, the police spokesperson for the Kigezi region, said that the police recovered a firearm with registration number Ug-PSO-811448608634.
“A search for Joshua Akankwasa is on and our officers are determined to uncover the full extent of the plot and bring all responsible parties to justice,” he said.
