President Yoweri Museveni has spoken about the attack on Tuesday evening, where two tourists and their guide were attacked and killed by suspected Allied Defense Forces (ADF) terrorists.

The victims were a UK citizen, a South African, and their Ugandan guide, all travelling with Gorillas and Wildlife Safaris.

Museveni’s statement revealed that the attack occurred around 6 pm on the Katwe-Kabatooro Road. He mentions that the two foreign tourists who lost their lives were a newlywed couple.

He condemned the terrorists’ actions, calling it a cowardly act to harm innocent civilians, especially tragic for the honeymooning couple. He assured that the Ugandan High Commission in the UK would reach out to the victims’ families to provide necessary support during this tragic situation.

The President has vowed that these terrorists will face severe consequences for their actions explaining

that the act was committed by a small group of terrorists who were escaping from the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

He, however, called upon the UPDF, the Police, the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA), and the intelligence agencies to prevent such incidents from happening again and to continue their efforts to eradicate the ADF.
