Minister of ICT and National Guidance, Chris Baryomunsi, has encouraged young Ugandans to get creative and develop their own social media platform, similar to Facebook. While the government continues to have discussions with Facebook, they want the youth to think innovatively.

During a speech at the 2nd Annual National ICT Job Fair held at Kololo Independence Grounds, Baryomunsi revealed that young people often ask when Facebook will be accessible again. In response, he suggests that they create their own social media app that can compete with Facebook.

For more than two years, Facebook has been unavailable in Uganda, and people have been using virtual private networks (VPNs) to access it.
