A stepmother identified as Komuhendo Harriet has been arrested by Masindi Police for the alleged murder by poisoning of her two stepchildren, aged 8 and 6, and the attempted murder by poisoning of a third victim, a 2-year-old child who is currently undergoing treatment at Masindi General Hospital.

The incident happened on October 26 in Labongo sub-county, Masindi district, where the suspect is said to have given the three siblings a meal laced with suspected poison. As a result, all three children became unconscious, sending their family into a state of panic. They were immediately rushed to Masindi General Hospital for urgent medical attention.

Katusiime Patience, an 8-year-old female juvenile, and Asobora James, a 5-year-old male juvenile, could not be saved and lost their lives. The third victim, Kyosaba Mary, aged 3 years, is currently recuperating and considered out of immediate danger, under the care of medical professionals at Masindi Hospital.
