Police have confirmed that three assailants shot and killed Daniel Bbosa, the head of Buganda’s Ndiga Clan.

Bbosa was killed inside his car near his home in Lungujja Parish, Lubaga Division, Kampala, on Sunday at around 6 p.m.

Speaking during the weekly press briefing at Police Headquarters in Naguru, Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, said that the assailants parked in a corner near the home of the deceased and watched as he approached the bend to his home, from where they shot at his vehicle.

Enanga said that the murder appears to be a planned incident because the assailants only focused on killing Bbosa.

“Bbosa’s wife Gladys and the housemaid with whom he was in the vehicle as he returned from a function survived with no injuries,” said Enanga.

The assailants are said to have fled the scene using a motorcycle with registration number UEX 754E but were pursued by courageous boda boda riders who knocked the motorcycle down, and two of them were cornered.

Enanga said that Enock Sserunkuma, one of the assailants, was killed by the mob, while Noah Lujja is at Mulago responding to treatment for injuries. The third assailant managed to escape, and the hunt is on for his arrest.

He said detectives are currently recovering CCTV footage from the area for any useful information, whereas the gun has been submitted to ballistic experts.
