Opposition strongman and leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP) party, Bobi Wine real name is Robert Kyagulanyi, has defended his regular trips abroad, stating that he has not just started making them, as he used to travel around the world even when he was still a singer.

The singer-turned-politician, who has been repeatedly accused of always being on the plane instead of focusing on laying the structure of how they can strengthen their struggle against the current government, explains that he is still alive because he has made several international connections, making it hard for the regime to plot anything harmful against his life.

“When I was arrested in Arua, several ambassadors, international stars, and international activists tweeted demanding my release. The regime felt the pressure and set me free,” Bobi Wine said while appearing in an interview on a local radio station last evening.

According to Bobi Wine, their struggle against President Museveni and his government is international, so he has to travel abroad to make more connections and also alert those who fund the regime.

He claims that America gives Museveni $1 billion (about Shs3.8 trillion) per year, and he uses the funds to ‘crash’ those who oppose him.

“I have to meet those that fund him so that I can convince them to cancel the funding,” he said.

Bobi Wine also states that he is securing economic connections so that after they defeat Museveni, they will be able to economically transform the country.
