Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) President Moses Magogo has revealed that the approval by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the newly renovated Namboole Stadium to host games was temporary, as the stadium will need another approval to host the upcoming fixtures in September.

According to Magogo, the UPDF Engineering Brigade needs to finish all the remaining renovation work for the stadium to be permanently approved.

“It is important for Ugandans to know that we received a provisional license to host only the two matches we played against Botswana and Algeria. Namboole is still under renovation, and to host games in September we will have to apply for the license,” Magogo posted on his social media platforms.

Following the recent two Uganda Cranes games at Namboole, it’s important to note that there is still a challenge with the ticketing system, which caused a lot of disorganization at the gate. During the Cranes game against Algeria, many fans decided to jump the main wall fence of the stadium after the ticketing system failed to work.

Additionally, the access roads to the stadium need urgent repairs.

Lt. Col. Peter Seku Kidemuka, the Project Engineer overseeing the renovation works at Namboole Stadium, promises that all this will be fixed in the next month and they will finally hand over the stadium to the government.
