The National Unity Platform (NUP) president, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine, has called upon the people of Uganda to emulate the young people of Kenya in their quest for change.

Speaking in an interview on NTV this morning, Bobi Wine urged Ugandans to hold their politicians accountable and not leave their future in their hands.

He drew inspiration from the recent protests in Kenya, where young people rose up unarmed and non-violently asserted themselves, achieving significant results.

“The young people of Kenya didn’t just act for themselves, but for the whole of Africa, and the whole world,” Bobi Wine noted.

The NUP President stated that the struggles of the young people in Uganda are not just about him or his party, but about their future.

“They are under more pressure because they are younger than myself and have a longer life ahead,” he said. He encouraged them to rise up peacefully and unarmed, knowing that the world is watching.

Bobi Wine and his NUP party resumed their countrywide tour on Monday, but they were blocked by the police from accessing the Boma Grounds in Bundibugyo, a venue they had booked.

“Before we could enter Bundibugyo and proceed to the radio station we had paid and booked, and later to the Boma grounds, which we had also paid for and notified the authorities about, they acted contrary to the law, and we could not proceed as planned,” said Bobi Wine.

The NUP party will head to Bushenyi and Ishaka today.
