11-year-old pupil dies after school latrine collapses

An 11-year-old pupil of Madera Boys Boarding Primary School has died in a pit latrine. The incident happened within the school premises located in Madera Central Cell, Madera Ward, Soroti City East Division.

Reports indicate that John Paul Ekaru, a primary three pupil, went to use the school pit latrine around 9:00 PM. However, the dilapidated structure collapsed, trapping him inside.

His absence was noticed during the morning roll call at 7:00 AM the following day. Upon realizing that he was missing, a search was immediately conducted, leading to the discovery of his body in the collapsed pit latrine.
